Kobe Bryant

We remember Kobe stepping into our atelier with the same intensity he brought to the court, a spark in his eye that matched Richard Lim’s own creative fire. From the first fitting onward, it felt like two forces converging: Kobe’s athletic grace and our atelier’s love of fine tailoring. He trusted us implicitly, whether for public spectacles or private moments. In conversations that bounced between cut-away lapels and court-winning moves, a partnership formed that went beyond designer and client. It became a shared ambition to blend sport and sartorial elegance.
Our work on the Nike “Genius” commercial presented a unique opportunity to merge the precision of bespoke tailoring with the dynamic spirit of elite sport, translating performance-driven concepts into every aspect of that custom two-piece suit. By selecting a lightweight, stretch-woven fabric and crafting a silhouette that complimented the sleek design of the ZKIII shoe, we honored Kobe’s athleticism while showcasing the artistry of our atelier. The result was a garment that moved with effortless grace as he stepped in front of the camera, embodying both the power of an athlete’s drive and the refinement of made-to-measure design. In that collaboration, sport and sartorial elegance came together to create a visual impact that elevated the campaign and underscored the synergy between high performance and high fashion.
Beyond that flagship project, Kobe was a frequent visitor not just for premieres but for life’s everyday moments. Whether he needed a sharp blazer for a charity gala or a sleek overcoat for winter, Richard greeted him like an old teammate. Each personal piece carried just enough High Society flair to remind him of home, even when he was miles away chasing another championship.
We often look back on our time with Kobe as a defining chapter in High Society’s story. He wasn’t simply a patron; he was a collaborator who tested our limits and inspired us to push boundaries between athleticism and bespoke tailoring. His confidence in Richard’s vision and our craftsmanship fueled projects that still influence how we approach tailoring today. Though the physical patterns and sketches may be gone, the spirit of those late-night design sessions and mutual respect lives on in every suit we make. In our atelier, Kobe remains a symbol of what happens when two worlds collide and create something truly unique.
